What makes us human? How are we different from the other animals? How do we understand things like self-awareness, language, humour and a range of emotions experienced by humans? Most of these questions can be understood by looking into the structures in our brain and how neurons functions. A recent book by a brilliant scientist, VS Ramachandran, addresses these and many more questions. He also gave series of fascinating lectures on these topics a while ago on BBC radio.
